About Central and East Northamptonshire Citizens Advice (CENCA)

We provide the advice people need for the problems they face. We offer information and advice on a wide range of issues to those living or working in Central and East Northamptonshire.

Our service is free, confidential, independent and impartial. We will not judge you, persuade you or tell you what you should do. We will listen, explain all the options available to you and advise you on the course of action you decide to take. It is about helping you to understand both your rights and responsibilities so you can make informed choices about the problems you face.

By campaigning, we help many more people than we can directly support. We use the evidence from our clients to challenge those in authority to change their policies and practices. You can find information about this on the Research and Campaigns pages on this website.

We will explain what information we record about your issues and will not share any of your personal details without your permission.

We value diversity, promote equality and challenge discrimination. On average, over 40% of the clients CENCA supports are people with disabilities and long term health conditions, and over 20% of our clients are from Black Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds.

Since the lockdown in March to June 2020, our advisers have earned our clients £1.4 million pounds in new benefits – that is much needed money in the pockets of our clients as a direct result of our work. On average we have earned each new client £5,500 since March, and by April 2021 we expect to earn at least £6million for people who claim new benefits. That is not only a boost to local families, it is a boost to our local economy. If you need our advice please click on one of the 3 buttons at the top of this page, or you can telephone us on 03 444 111 444 (charged at local rates). Our advisers have access to language translation, so speakers of other languages can also access our services.

This video from CENCA Chief Officer Mary Clarke gives an over-view of CENCA services (recorded June 2020).
